lyrics i love

ok, i'm a sucker for good lyrics or even just a good line.  not to the extent that the musical aspects of the song are irrelevant (on the contrary, i love a good beat, lyrics aside), and i'm not even talking about lyrics that would make a good poem standing alone, but basically the ones that for some reason stick in my head.  probably my favorite lyrics are radiohead's talk show host (let's not engage in a detailed psychological analysis of that... or maybe let's???), but i'm going to keep posting other ones that catch my ears below.

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/notoriousbig/hypnotize.html  (excellent self praise: "hah, sicker than your average")
http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/kanyewest/throughthewire.html (on having a jaw wired shut: "I drink a boost for breakfast, and ensure for desert.  Somebody ordered pancakes I just sip the sizzurp.")

http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/pepper-lyrics-butthole-surfers/1b93e4b36cc553b348256d0a00310b24 ("Some will fall in love with life And drink it from a fountain That is pouring like an avalanche Coming down the mountain")

in the meantime, share your own in the comments?

  1. Love this post. I'm obsessed with lyrics and will admit to listening pretty hard for them. I like:

Anything from House of Pain "Jump Around"
Also, Blackstreet "No Diggity": "Curve's the word, spin's the verb, Lovers it curves so freak what you heard"

Country music is gold, see Big&Rich's "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" or Tim McGraw "Barbecue Stain"

Classics = Don McLean "American Pie" and everything Queen has every made, especially "Don't Stop Me Now" and "Bohemian Rhapsody"

  2. I have a lot of faves and they are usually one-liners:
"drip drip drop there goes an eargasm" Outkast - The Way You Move
"got a time bomb tick tick ticking just like anthrax, boys wanna battle so I bought me a battleaxe" - Zebrahead - I'm Money
"consider this a letter that I never sent however inconsiderate it seems, well do you still consider me?" - Brand New - Logan to Government Center
"you got a brand new dress and I got mirrors on my shoes" - Paranoid Social Club - Where the Sun Don't Shine
Jimi Hendrix - Bold as Love <- these lyrics make this song my favoritest full complete song ever written. They are simply perfect. And they also describe why, if you ask my my favorite color, I'll just tell you, "Bold."
